Abstract

Football has become the most popular team sport across the globe. The increase in participation brought the incidence of football related injuries to a high level. About 22% of those injuries are related to the head and face. Among the head injuries resulting with a fracture, 27% involve the mandibula. According to localization, mandibular fractures are named as condillar, coronoid, ramus, corner, parasymphisis, symphisis and alveoler ones. The present case is about a mandibular fracture resulting from trauma to the facial area during football play. CT confirmed fracture at the rather thin and fragile condillary section of the mandibula. Diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the case is discussed.
